St Walburga's Catholic Primary School

A Voluntary Academy

The whole school Mission Week was held in the week of 16-20th January with the theme of

‘Prayer and Witness’.

“It’s made me value praying.” Y6 child

“My brain feels better for talking to God a lot more.”  (F2 child)

We were lucky to have Greg from The Mark 10 Mission to help us launch the week. He led worship for the whole school and then completed workshops on ways to pray and how to hear God’s voice with each key stage as well as our KS2 Faith Leaders.

“I learned that prayer is an adventure!”  (Y5 child)

The Faith Leaders used what they had learnt to lead some really beautiful and reflective prayer sessions for the rest of the school during break times and lunchtime, which were very well attended.

Following an assembly where the Faith Leaders introduced the concept of witness to the school, children were able to nominate others who they thought were being witnesses to Christ through their words and actions.

The children particularly enjoyed coming together at the end of the day to sing, pray and celebrate the nominated witnesses.

In addition, each class took time in the week to research and select a saint to whom they would dedicate their cohort to through the rest of their time at St. Walburga’s.
