St Walburga's Catholic Primary School

A Voluntary Academy

 Welcome to Year 1

Our teacher is Mrs Horrigan and our teaching assistant is Mrs Delvecchio, we also have Miss King Tues-Friday during the afternoons.

Our Learning is a mixture of formal and provision based activities, the children can access the provision based on the current learning. Our provision

Our daily timetable is as follows: We welcome the children into school at 8.45am, the children are provided with a focussed morning task to complete. The children begin their lessons at 9am until their break at 10.30. After break and the opportunity for a drink and a healthy fruit snack, the children continue their learning until 12.00 when we break for lunch.

Lessons resume at 1pm with a further afternoon break at 2.15pm. After break the children continue with their final lesson of the day until 3.15pm.

Your child is provided with one reading book a week and one library book, the library book is their own choice. When your child has read their book, please record this in their reading record, otherwise their book will not be changed. Their change day is written on the plastic reading bag that they bring home.

Library day is Thursday, this is the only day the children will get to visit the library to browse the books, if you can ensure your child brings their library book on a Thursday, that would be really helpful.

Below you will find some of the books we will be reading throughout the year. Our Autumn term newsletter.
