Forest School

St Walburga’s has a wonderful woodland space with approximately 20 mature trees and a diverse range of flora and fauna.  Within the space we running forest school sessions every Thursday for the children to learn, explore and get to know this fantastic space in the school.  This is delivered by Mr Turnbull of Best Buds Forest School. Forest School is a learning methodology created in Scandinavia in the 1980’s for children to spend the majority of their time learning outdoors through self lead play.

Den building with the cup of tea challenge, low ropes course, fire safety and basic fire lighting, woodland walk around the local woods searching for the Parakeets, making art out of the natural material we can find, locating bugs, building bug houses, campfire cooking and hammock storytelling sessions are just some of the activities the children can enjoy.

This year sessions are available to children in Year 6, Year 2 and Year 4.
